President of Struggling Mill Company Tours Vancouver Island Operations

CROFTON- Attempting to build support for his ailing paper company the president of the Catalyst Paper Corp. kicks off tour of a Vancouver Island in North Cowichan. Catalyst paper owns mills in BC and Arizona.

Faced with increasing business cost and declining demand for paper products world wide Catalyst has been thrust into creditor protection. Facing possible bankruptcy the paper giant is touring its Vancouver Island holdings trying to find solutions to solve its huge financial troubles.

Today President Kevin J. Clarke asked councillors in the North Cowichan District; where its Crofton mill is located, for support to lower tax cost imposed on them by the government agency. Clarke says with support from the North Cowichan district the company has a much better chance at saving the hundreds of jobs its Crofton mill provides the region.
