Marine Wildlife Tour Vancouver Island Victoria BC Race Rocks with Eagle Wing Tours

Marine Wildlife Tour Vancouver Island Victoria BC Race Rocks with Eagle Wing Tours
On our tours we had the opportunity to see four species of Pinniped: Elephant Seals, California Sea Lions, Stellar Sea Lions and Harbour Seals. Much of the time we see these (sometimes smelly) creatures hauled up on the rocks at locations such as Race Rocks and Trial Island. However, it is also quite common to see them bobbing in the water, hunting squid and fish.

Whale Watching in Victoria on Vancouver Island!
TripAdvisor has voted Eagle Wing Tours #1 since 2007 for whale watching in Victoria on Vancouver Island

Whale watching is the practice of observing whales and dolphins (cetaceans) in their natural habitat. Whale watching is mostly a recreational activity but it can also serve scientific and/or educational purposes. A study prepared for International Fund for Animal Welfare in 2009 estimated that 13 million people went whale watching globally in 2008. Whale watching generates $2.1 billion per annum in tourism revenue worldwide, employing around 13,000 workers. The size and rapid growth of the industry has led to complex and continuing debates with the whaling industry about the best use of whales as a natural resource.

Sea Kayak and Whale Watching Tour on Vancouver Island – Paddle with Orcas

Vancouver Island is the best place on earth to see killer whales in the wild. Most of British Columbia’s 300 or so orcas return to these waters to feed, sleep, play, and rub their bodies on the pebble beaches of world famous Robson Bight Ecological Reserve. And there’s no more exciting way to encounter pods of these fascinating animals than from the seat of your very own sea kayak. Also sharing this diverse habitat are dolphins, porpoises, sea lions, harbour seals, humpback whales, eagles and black bears, to name just a few.

Filmmaker Michael Altenhenne has captured this unique experience from water – and from air using a drone.
