The Chen Clan Academy, locally known as the Chen Ancestral Hall, was built on donation from the Chen lineages in Guangdong province in the 20th year of Guangxu Reign of the Qing dynasty (1894). It is a typical ancestral hall building in Lingnan area, covering a total area of ​​15,000 square meters, 6,400 square meters to the main structure.

The Chen Clan Academy gathers comprehensive features of the decorative arts of the folk architecture in Guangdong province. All the buildings are decorated with wood carving, brick carving, stone carving, lime sculpture, ceramic sculpture, iron casting and colored drawing, etc. These artistic decorations own wide range of subjects and are lively model in rich color. Mr. Guo Moruo composed one verse after his visiting: Nature's engineering can be replaced by human creations. Manpower is better than natural creations. The human world is created in a way like this. Nestled in the Liurong road, one of the four major Buddhist bases in Guangzhou. Initially built in the 3rd year of Liang Da Tong reign, thus being over 1400 years old so far.

In the 3rd year of Yuan-fu Regin, Su Dong-po (a great writer in the ancient history of China) once visited the temple, and saw the six old banyan trees; He then joyfully wrote down two Chinese characters "Liu Rong" (which means six Banyan Trees) as an inscription.

Since that, the temple was called "Six Banyan Temple". A pagoda was later established and called by the multitude as "Colored Tower", featuring 1023 small Buddhist figures of exquisite craftsmanship; together with other component parts, the pagoda weighs nearly 5 tons heavy.

In April 2006, Xiangjiang Safari Park received 6 koalas from Australia and is the only zoo in mainland China to display koalas. The twins are only the second set of twins to be born in captivity, with the last set being born more than 50 years ago.

The zoo is broken into 2 main sections, the "Safari on Foot" section where guests walk around a modern zoo, and a "Safari on Wheels" section where guest's board road trains and travel through three impressive open plains sections which are the Asian Plains , Predatory zone and African Savannah.

Xiangjiang Safari Park is creating a new era in Chinese zoos and a visit to this park will not disappoint. The park is extremely user friendly as all park signage is written in Chinese and English and its restaurants cater to both eastern and western tastes.

A Paris Travel Guide

Paris is known as one of the most romantic cities in the world and with good reason. It is bursting with beautiful architecture, gorgeous restaurants and intimate boutique hotels. All of these combined make Paris the perfect place for a romantic getaway.

Bangkok Budget Hotels – A Guide For Thrifty Travelers

Bangkok offers visitors from all over the world a huge selection of hotel choices with room rates for everyone's pocket books. Of course the most popular category of accommodations are budget hotels. However, there are so many different types of budget hotels in Bangkok that selecting the right one is essential for a more enjoyable vacation.

Affordable hotels in Bangkok are scattered everywhere but there are a few key areas that you should look into when planning your sightseeing itinerary. First you should get your hands on a map of the BTS Sky Train or MRT underground train system. Road traffic in the streets of Bangkok is notorious for bumper to bumper traffic jams, so getting stuck in a taxi for hours is unacceptable as there's just much to see in the city. By taking advantage of the quick and efficient train systems you will be one step ahead in planning a great tour itinerary.

Many budget hotels within the city have are in the range of THB 850 ($ 25US) to THB 1700 ($ 50US). A few hostel type accommodations such as Lub d Bangkok (not a spelling error, that's the actual hotel name) have rooms with 4 sets of bunk beds and others are like Bedroom Boutique Hotel with modern stylish private rooms. Both of these hotels are located within the hub activities of Bangkok as well as near a BTS Sky Train to zip you around town easily.

Then there are the budget hotels near Bangkok's red light districts that are always popular. Such as the THB 1200 ($ 35US) per night Woraburi Sukhumvit Hotel and Resort which is about a 10 minute walk to Nana Entertainment Plaza (NEP), a small 3 store building stacked with go go bars. And if 10 minutes is still too far away then check out the Majestic Suites which will only set you back THB 1295 ($ 38US) per night but it's only around the street corner from NEP.

If you're a serious shopaholic then Samran Place Hotel THB 1000 ($ 30US) might be right for you. Located between the shopping heaven of Pratunam and Siam districts you can spend the money you saved on hotels on clothes and electronics to your hearts content. There's also a BTS Sky Train station just right out the hotel's door that will take you around to other shopping parades in other parts of Bangkok easily.

There are many affordable hotels in central Bangkok so there's no need to look for a hotel at the edge of the city. Many budget hotels in Bangkok are very popular so you should book your hotels a few months in advance. And it's always a good idea to keep multiple hotel choices in the back of your mind in case your first choice does not have rooms available.

Podgorica Travel Guide

Podgorica

Podgorica is the capital city of Montenegro. With a population of around 130,000, it is a small city which offers one the opportunities to hike and ski in the vast mountains and relax on the beaches. Montenegro is bounded by Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Albania; it faces the Adriatic Sea. The city is built among five rivers: Cijevna, Moraca, Ribnica, Sitnica and Zeta. A Eurail pass can get one to Podgorica, through the Serbian capital. Although almost all of the architecture is new, the city is a multicultural experience.

History Of Podgorica

In this part of the Balkans, Podgorica is one of the old settlements. The name Podgorica appeared in 1326 in the archives of Kotor, a coastal town of Montenegro. Podgorica was a busy city with a very strong economy. In 1474, the Turkish occupied the city which stopped the development of the city in many aspects. The Turks built fortresses as a protection against rebellious tribes. In 1864, Podgorica officially earned the township title. It was given many titles, such as Bogurtlen and Burgurice. In 1878, through the Berlin Congress, the town of Podgorica was integrated to Montenegro. From there, without Turkish occupation, the town developed quickly. However in World War I, the town was occupied by Austria-Hungary. After the war, Montenegro merged with Serbia and became part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. During the World War II, it was bombed seventy times. On December 19, 1944, it was liberated. It was named Titograd and became the capital of the Socialist Republic of Montenegro in 1946. In 1992, the name Podgorica was reinstated. By then, the economy began to recover and by May 2006, it gained its independence and was made the official capital of Montenegro.

Things To Do In Podgorica

In Podgorica, since the city itself is rebuilding, only few places are worth visiting, like the National Theater, the Natural History Museum, the Republic Square, and some churches and mosques. But from the city, there are great places to visit which were untouched during the war. In Kotor, for instance, there is an old settlement Medun, an antique Roman area named Duklja, the monastery Dajbabe, Nemanjin Grad and Vranjina, a fisherman lodgment along the Skadar Lake.

Getting To Podgorica

Podgorica can be reached through its main international airport Podgorica Airport. If you are traveling by rail you can travel with a Eurail Select Pass. One can travel direct from Belgrade in Serbia.
